Cancun, Q.R. — The driver of a motorcycle was killed Monday after colliding with a double long semi. The accident happened on José López Portillo Avenue when the driver hit the side of one of its trailers.
The accident was reported to 9-1-1 by area residents around 11:15 p.m. Monday night. The double-long semi was making a U-turn when it was hit by the motorcycle driver.

The male driver was unable to brake in time or avoid the semi since it had the entire avenue blocked. The bike and driver were forced under the first trailer. The driver was found under a set of back wheels of the trailer along with his motorcycle.
His helmet had flown off in the process and was located on the avenue several meters ahead of the accident site.
Cancun Transit were first on scene followed by paramedics who pronounced the motorcycle driver dead. The driver of the semi was detained from his unit and taken in for questioning.
The avenue around the accident site was found littered with beer cans. Authorities are using city surveillance cameras to determine who was responsible for the fatal collision.
