Cancun, Q.R. — Cancun Mayor Ana Patricia Peralta de la Peña has announced her intention to run for state governor. Peralta has officially registered for the position as a potential candidate for the upcoming 2027 position.
“There is a lot of work being done, and we have to give continuity to that, both in the state, with Mara Lezama, and in the country,” she said. “We will travel to the different municipalities of Quintana Roo, have a walking agenda, knocking on doors, holding assemblies to make knownt the information the public should know,” she said.
While she indicated that she couldn’t say much due to process guidelines, she confirmed her request to leave the position of Cancun mayor.
“I am leaving temporarily with the peace of mind of knowing that there is a strong administration, an organized administration committed to the people, and with the conviction that I will continue here in Quintana Roo from any space where the citizens decide I can be useful,” he stated.
Peralta is one of the candidates who have announced their intention to fill the up and coming position as governor of Quintana Roo.
Others competing for the position of governor include Eugenio Segura, Marybel Villegas Canché and Rafael Marín Mollinedo.
The current governor of Quintana Roo, Mara Lezama, was the mayor of Cancun for two terms before winning the election for state governor.
