Cancun man who fakes interest to buy back his stolen motorcycle arrested

Cancun, Q.R. — A man who faked interest in purchasing his own stolen motorcycle through an online ad has been arrested. The man was taken into custody by Cancun police after taking justice into his own hands.

On Friday, the victim met with the alleged thief who stole his motorcycle the day before. The pair agreed to meet in a public plaza parking lot in SM 248 after the victim posed as an interested buyer after seeing his stolen motorcycle for sale on social media.

When the two met in the parking lot, a verbal confrontation lead to a physical confrontation when the angry victim is alleged to have punched the thief in the mouth several times before subduing him.

Parking lot bystanders intervened and called police. Police responding to the report of the fight at a plaza along Kabah Avenue arrested both men. The thief is reported to be a minor.

The victim of the Thursday theft was handcuffed and transferred to a Cancun jail cell in the back of a police unit while the alleged thief was taken to hospital by ambulance under police guard.
