Cancun man sentenced to six years for stealing company payroll at gunpoint

Cancun, Q.R. — A Cancun man has been sentenced to six years in prison for aggravated robbery. Arturo Guadalupe González will serve time for stealing 300,000 pesos at gunpoint.

On Friday, the State Attorney General (FGE), reported on the sentencing from the 2023 payroll robbery.

“The now sentenced man is identified as Arturo Guadalupe González, who on September 9, 2023 at approximately 9:20 a.m., intercepted an employee of the affected company.

“The employee, who worked as an administrative manager, arrived on a motorcycle at the company’s headquarters on Calcetoc Street with Nachi Cocom Avenue in Superblock 50.

“Upon approaching the victim with a firearm in his hand, he ordered him not to move and to hand over his backpack, which contained envelopes with the payroll money for the company’s employees, for a total amount of 300,000 pesos,” the FGE detailed.

“After robbing him, Arturo Guadalupe González ordered the victim to hand over the keys to the motorcycle he had been riding moments before, as well as his cell phone, then told him to lie face down on the ground, and then fled the scene, taking the stolen money.”

In an oral trial Friday, Arturo Guadalupe González was sentenced to six years in prison for aggravated robbery.

Police say according to the data collected during the investigation, Arturo Guadalupe González was the boyfriend of a female employee of the company who knew the paydays.
