Cancun, Q.R. — Cancun lifeguards saved two swimmers from drowning Sunday at Playa Delfines. According to the Cancun fire department the two males found themselves being dragged out to sea while swimming and unable to swim back.
On-duty lifeguards saw them struggling in the water. They had been dragged approximately 100 meters out to sea by the strong current by the time lifeguards reached them.
Both swimmers were brought back to the sand and evaluated. Bomberos Cancun said that both were found to be okay and did not require a hospital transfer.
In a statement they reported “Water Rescue at Playa Delfines. Members of the Cancun Fire Department, through their Aquatic Rescue Unit, successfully rescued two people who were swept out to sea approximately 100 meters from the shore.

“Thanks to the rapid intervention and coordination of beach personnel, the individuals were brought ashore without complications, only exhibiting fatigue. They were stabilized on site and did not require medical transport.
“The operation was carried out with the support of Cancun Civil Protection lifeguards and in coordination with beach authorities, prioritizing the safety of visitors at all times.
“We remind citizens and tourists to respect warning flags, heed the instructions of lifeguards, and avoid entering the water when conditions are adverse. To Serve and Protect!”
On Sunday, a woman was pulled from the sea after being dragged out off Playa Gaviota Azul. Cancun Civil Protection said she was rescued by lifeguards after being pulled out by the strong rip currents. She was also found to be okay and not require further medical attention.
“Our lifeguards carried out a timely rescue of a woman who was swept away by a rip current. Thanks to the quick intervention of the staff, the person was safely brought to safety and did not require medical transport.
