Cancun, Q.R. — Cancun lifeguards were quick to retrieve three teens who were swept out to sea Monday afternoon off a Cancun Hotel Zone beach. Several Civil Protection lifeguards made the afternoon rescue when they saw the struggling swimmers.
On-duty lifeguards spotted the three young men as they were being dragged out by the current off Playa Marlin. Cancun firemen also came to their aid during the 4:00 p.m. incident that left the young men shaken but well.
The youths are reported to be tourists who were at the Cancun beach with their families. They were swimming only a few meters off Playa Marlin when a strong current began to drag them out to sea. Rescue teams were quick to jump into the water and pull them back to shore.
Paramedics responded to the report, evaluating all three on shore who were reported to be in good condition considering. Paramedics determined that hospital transfers were not required. The youths were returned to their families after being evaluated.
