Cancun, Q.R. — A Cancun judge has ordered a suspect in custody to stand trial for murder. On Thursday, Geovany Martín “N” was ordered to remain in preventative detention for the March 10 killing of a Cancun restaurant patron.
The Attorney General’s Office of the State of Quintana Roo reports that Geovany Martín “N” will be tried “for his probable participation in the crime of qualified homicide to the detriment of a male victim.”
According to the FGE report, “the accused and two other companions, on March 10 of this year, arrived on motorcycles at a seafood restaurant in the Tres Reyes irregular neighborhood of Cancun where they intended to extort.
“At the scene, one of them fired a firearm at the business and at the victim who lost his life as a result.”
Geovany Martín “N” has been transferred to the Social Reintegration Center (Cereso) of Cancun where he will remain imprisoned as “a precautionary measure of informal preventive detention for a period of two years or the duration of the process,” they added.
