Cancun journalist escapes unharmed after being victim of targeted shooting

Cancun, Q.R. — The FGE of Quintana Roo has begun an investigation into the attempted murder of a Cancun journalist. On Thursday night, Rubén “N” was the target in an attempted shooting in SM 95.

The Cancun journalist was driving in his vehicle when he was intercepted by a car that opened fire. At least four shots were fired.

In a briefing, the FGE of Quintana Roo reported that they “started an investigation for the attack suffered by a journalist in the municipality of Benito Juárez. The Attorney General’s Office is carrying out the corresponding investigative acts.”

The shooting happened shortly after 7:00 p.m. as he was leaving work. He was not injured in the attack. He was reportedly in the company of bodyguards at the time of the shooting.
