Cancun, Q.R. — The new overpass system for the Cancun International Airport is nearing 75 percent finished. On Thursday, Governor Mara Lezama reported briefly on the advancements.
“With an advance of almost 75 percent in the construction of the airport distributor, we will inaugurate this mega project very soon. Work is currently being carried out on loop 35, paving on the trunk and on the removal of the product from the demolition of abutment 4 of the old structure.
“We continue to work hand-in-hand with the Government of Mexico so that this project, which will transform the mobility of the people of Quintana Roo and our visitors, shortening their travel times, is ready in a timely manner.”
The construction progress update of the Cancun International Airport Distributor was provided by information from the Ministry of the Interior.
On June 16, a section of the new airport overpass was opened to public traffic. During the night time hours, crews worked with heavy machinery to demolish the old bridge. The much-needed new airport overpass is scheduled for completion before the end of this year.
