Cancun, Q.R. — The body of a man believed to be a local taxi driver was found early Tuesday morning. The body was found by police after area residents reported sounds of gunfire to emergency services.
Police responding to the 2:00 a.m. call of shots fired found the body of a deceased adult male laying on a sidewalk in SM 227 after several Public Security units began a search for those responsible for the gunfire.
The man was reported found laying on his back shot to death, still wearing his taxi uniform. On his chest was a handwritten threat message referring to “other taxi operators in the hotel zone”.
Area residents directed investigating police toward a gray Aveo, which they said, tossed the body from the vehicle before fleeing. Authorities have not publicly identified the deceased taxi driver.
