Cancun home invasion sends four to hospital with stab wounds

Cancun, Q.R. — Four people were taken to hospital Thursday after a home invasion in the Valle Verde area of Cancun. The two adults and two teenaged children were transferred to hospital after being stabbed during an early morning robbery.

Reports say two men entered the home around 5:00 a.m. to steal money they knew was inside. In the process, the entire family was stabbed before the two men fled on a motorcycle. Police were notified of the incident, arriving to find all four with knife injuries.

Taken to hospital was 44-year-old Jonathan N with two knife wounds, along with 30-year-old Marcela N, with one knife wound to the chest. Two children, 14-year-old Jose N and 13-year-old Mayra N, also suffered knife injuries.

The two men made of with an estimated 50,000 peso. The money was earned from a fruit stand the family had in the front of their home. Their daily earnings were kept inside the house.

A search for the two men left police empty handed. Local media have reported that the woman, 30-year-old Marcela N, died several hours after being admitted to hospital.
