Cancun, Q.R. — The driver of a garbage truck created a slight delay in his Monday schedule after toppling five CFE power poles. The incident was reported around 1:00 p.m. when the truck hit a pole.
The domino effect of them being attached by lines saw four more downed, one of which, was a transformer. Numerous residential blocks were left without electricity after the SM 63 poles fell.
The falling of the poles also caused an entire street to become temporarily closed. Cancun police were sent to Torcasita Avenue to secure the area with yellow police tape until Federal Electricity Commission (CFE) personnel arrived to pick up the poles and restore power.
Elements of Civil Protection and the Fire Department also arrived to evaluate the situation.
