Cancun, Q.R. — Cancun firemen had to use the jaws of life to free the trapped driver of an old model car. The 21-year-old man was cut free of his vehicle after an early morning accident Sunday.
According to Bomberos Cancun, the driver of the Tsuru was left trapped behind the steering wheel after colliding with a cargo truck on a section of highway outside Cancun. Firemen worked to free driver, José Julián from his crumpled car for a transfer to hospital.
National Guard were at the scene directing early morning highway traffic while firemen worked to free the male driver. The driver of the cargo truck is alleged to have fled the scene. Details surrounding the accident are unknown.
