Cancun firemen save surrounding businesses after garden shop goes up in flames

Cancun, Q.R. — A Cancun garden shop was destroyed Monday by an early morning fire. When firefighters arrived, the business was completely engulfed in flames. The Cancun fire department quickly attended to the fire located in SM 24 Monday.

A 9-1-1 call alerted authorities to the burning business on Tanka Avenue. Firemen arrived to an empty store and used forced entry to access the building. They were able to put out the fire before it spread to neighboring stores. There were no injuries reported.

Authorities did not provide a possible cause for the early morning blaze. In a statement, the Cancun Fire Department reported “Monday morning, Cancun Fire Department personnel quickly responded to a fire at a gardening products store located on Tanka Avenue, near Superblock 24.

“After finding no one at the scene, a forced entry was made to extinguish the flames that were already burning. Thanks to the swift response, the fire was contained and prevented from spreading to neighboring stores. No injuries were reported.

“We appreciate the timely call from the public and remind everyone of the importance of immediately reporting any emergency to 911. Your call can save lives and protect our community! Serve and Protect!”
