Cancun firemen save home after forgotten pot destroys kitchen

Cancun, Q.R. — Cancun firefighters saved a home Wednesday that left a kitchen destroyed by flames. Elements of the Cancun fire department, along with Municipal Police and Civil Protection, were at an address in the Aqua residential area in SM 330 in response to a request for help.

Emergency services arrived in response to the 4:00 p.m. report of a house fire. Firemen worked quickly to contain the kitchen fire and extinguish the flames before they spread to the rest of the home. There were no injuries reported.

According to Bomberos Cancun, the fire started in the kitchen. A lit gas burner and forgotten pot were responsible for the flames that shot upwards and began to burn the overhead cabinetry. The home’s occupants were unable to put it out themselves since they were without a fire extinguisher.

In a brief statement, Bomberos Cancun (Cancun Fire Department) reported “our team from the Cancun Fire Department responded to a fire that started in the kitchen of a home in Supermanzana 330.

“Thanks to the quick response and coordination, the fire was put out and its spread was prevented, with no injuries reported. Remember prevention is key to avoiding fires at home.
