Cancun firemen called to extinguish fire inside vacant home

Cancun, Q.R. — Firemen in Cancun were called to the scene of a burning home in SM 90 by neighbors who saw smoke coming from inside. Since no one was home, firemen carried out a forced entry. Inside they found a bedroom fully engulfed in flames.

Due to the size of the fire and the items being burned, the entire house was filled with thick smoke. Firemen cut off the power and began the task of extinguishing the fire. There were no injuries reported. Authorities did not provide a reason for the early morning blaze but did hint to an electrical issue.

Cancun firemen said in a brief report that “this morning, colleagues from the Cancún Fire Department responded to a report of a fire at a home located in Superblock 90. Upon arrival, no one was found at the scene, so it was necessary to carry out a forced entry and cut off the power supply to operate safely.

“The fire started in a bedroom where a mattress and various household items were consumed. The fire and smoke affected other areas of the building due to thermal radiation.

“Thanks to the prompt intervention of our personnel, the fire was controlled and extinguished, preventing further spread.
