Cancun, Q.R. — Firefighters in Cancun started their morning battling a roadside wildfire. On Friday morning, firemen were requested on Chichén Itzá Avenue shortly after 9:00 a.m. where a section of vegetation was reported burning.

When firemen arrived they found hick black smoke shooting up into the air from the centre of the fire. Fire truck 954 with four men on board were sent to put out the flames.
Civil Protection and police also arrived at the SM 60 location to the burning brush. According to Cancun firemen, they put out a fire of burning tires and trash. There were no injuries reported. The fire is suspected to have been an intentional burn that became out of control/
In a statement, Bomberos Cancun said “Attention citizens! This morning, members of the Cancún Fire Department extinguished a tire and trash fire near Chichén Itzá Avenue and Kabah Avenue.
“Fortunately, no injuries were reported, but we remind everyone that these types of incidents pose a serious risk to the health, the environment, and the safety of everyone.
“We urgently call on the community:
DO NOT burn trash.
DO NOT illegally dump waste.
Report activities that could endanger your neighborhood.
