Cancun, Q.R. — The Cancun fire department has confirmed the burning of a set of three palapas on a Cancun public beach. The fire happened at the Playa Langosta pier in the Cancun Hotel Zone.
According to the Cancun Fire Department, they responded to the report of the fire around midnight at kilometer 5 of Kukulkan Avenue in the Cancun Hotel Zone. Ten firemen along with two trucks responded to the call.
All three palapas, which contained items that included refrigerators, tables and chairs, were burned in their entirety.
Municipal Civil Protection and police were also called to the scene. There were no reports of injuries. An official cause for the fires has not yet been released. Estimated costs in material damage also remains unknown.
