Cancun, Q.R. — Police began a search Wednesday for two workers who disappeared from a Cancun construction site. The men were reported missing Wednesday morning by relatives.
Following the report, agents from the Attorney General’s Office (FGE) arrived at their place of work to begin search efforts. The disappearance of the two construction workers triggered security alerts and led to the activation of a search operation.
The two men were reported missing from a construction at the end of Chac Mool Avenue where a new residential complex is being built. Family members said they did not return home from work the night before.
Relatives of the now-missing men reported that the construction site was the last place they were seen alive. According to their report, both men went to work as usual, however, at the end of the day, all contact was lost and they did not return home.

Relatives also told police that the men’s cell phones stopped transmitting a signal and turned off without registering any new GPS location.
FGE agents were at the construction site around noon Wednesday accompanied by the Cancún Police Municipal Search Unit. They searched the Apartamentos Turquesa construction site in Superblock 248 where the men were last seen.
Construction workers were temporarily evacuated while the entire area was inspected with the support of canine units. Authorities were at the site more than two hours while they searched the area and interviewed fellow workers.
The case remains as an open investigation.
