Cancun family abducted and tortured in attempt at forced crime

Cancun, Q.R. — Three people have been arrested for attempting to force a Cancun family into a life of crime. The two adult men and one minor were arrested for the abduction and torture of the family in Villas Otoch Paraíso.

According to the State Attorney General (FGE) head Raciel López Salazar, three people, including a minor, were arrested “for their alleged involvement in the crime of unlawful deprivation of liberty against a family in the Villas Otoch Paraíso subdivision, in superblock 259.”

According to the FGE Monday report, the men broke into their home and took them to another house in the same neighborhood where they were held more than five hours. During that time they were beaten, burned and electrocuted on various parts of their bodies including their genitals, mouths and hands.

Raciel López Salazar said the abductors attempted to force them to participate in criminal activities including drug dealing and surveillance work for a criminal group.

After being released, the victims went to authorities for help. They were transferred to hospital where Salazar said, they were confirmed to have second-degree burns and multiple bruises on their buttocks from “plank blows” from being beaten with large pieces of wood. All three were reported to have been severely injured.

As a result of the investigation, Omar “N,” Jordi Nicolás “N” and a minor identified as Nahum “N,” aged 17, were arrested. All three were handed over to the Public Prosecutor’s Office. The two adults were brought before a judge who agreed to charge them. In the case of the minor, the proceedings are being conducted under the specialized juvenile justice system.
