Cancun, Q.R. — The female driver of a car that killed a Cancun worker Wednesday has been arrested. The woman was taken into custody from the scene after hitting four construction workers.

The incident happened Wednesday afternoon on Huayacan Avenue where the driver plowed through a group of workers. One of those workers was pronounced dead at the scene. The other three were taken to hospital with serious injuries.
According to initial reports, the woman driving a Volkswagen Vento was speeding when she crashed into four men who were clearing a green area of vegetation.

Red Cross paramedics and Civil Protection personnel arrived at the scene and confirmed the death of one of the workers. The other three injured workers were stabilized and rushed to a hospital.
The small crew of four were working on the side of the highway when they were struck by the car. Police proceeded with the arrest of the driver, who has been identified as 40 year old Yesenia “N”.
