Cancun, Q.R. — A Cancun driver was taken to hospital Tuesday after being chased and shot at numerous times while in his car. The male driver was the target of a broad daylight attack on Bonampak Avenue Tuesday afternoon.

According to initial investigations, the man was driving his red Mazda in SM 77 when he was pursued by armed men. The driver tried to out-maneuver his attackers during a chase that ended near Revolución Avenue.
The male driver got out of his car and began to run on foot to escape. During the chase, area residents who heard the gunfire had already called police.
Cancun police quickly located the car and injured driver. He was found suffering a bullet graze to his right arm and an injury to his hip. Police counted four bullet holes in the windshield of his car and three to the passenger side windows.
Municipal officers sectioned off the area to collect evidence and start an investigation, part of which included finding the two cars residents reported seeing shoot at the driver.

There was no comment on a motive for the attack.
