Cancun, Q.R. — Police arrested a Cancun driver for cutting off a motorcycle and causing an accident during an attempted U-turn. The two vehicles collided Friday afternoon on the highway behind the Cancun International Airport.
Motorists traveling the road between Luis Donaldo Colosio Boulevard and Huayacán Avenue reported the accident. Paramedics were sent to the scene around 3:45 p.m. in response to reports of an injured driver laying on the road.
According to witnesses, the driver of a pickup truck was attempting a U-turn when he cut off the oncoming motorcycle. Both vehicles collided, sending the bike driver to the pavement.
Paramedics provided first aid before transporting him to hospital. State Highway Police were sent to the scene where they confirmed the driver of the truck had changed lanes to make a U-turn, cutting off the motorcycle driver in the process.
The driver of the truck was arrested and taken into custody from the scene. Both vehicles were towed and traffic restored.
