Cancun, Q.R. — City police are continuing their search for the driver of a vehicle who plowed through a private home. The incident happened Monday morning in the Santa Fe subdivision in Supermanzana 525.
According to available information, the driver of an SUV lost control of the vehicle, allegedly due to speed, and smashed into the front of a house. The SUV was completely destroyed in the crash. The driver fled, abandoning his vehicle.
Residents reported the accident to emergency services which mobilized Municipal Transit, Civil Protection and firemen. The driver was reportedly seen zigzagging and swerving before hitting the house.
Traffic officers arrived to a partially collapsed front section of a house and scattered debris on the street. Firemen were called in as hazmat after police found the vehicle leaking fluids.
After a damage appraisal of the home by Civil Protection, the vehicle was towed to a corral. Authorities continue their search for the responsible driver.
