Cancun, Q. R. — City surveillance cameras are being used to identify the driver of a car that fled after an accident. The totaled vehicle was located by Cancun Transit early Thursday morning on Luis Donaldo Colosio Boulevard.
Passing motorists who saw the crashed vehicle alerted emergency services who arrived to find the car abandoned. It was found completely destroyed in a residential neighborhood of SM 308 after slamming into a concrete wall before hitting an electric pole.
The power pole was found in a leaning position after the hit. Personnel from the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE) were called to the scene around 2:30 a.m. to make the necessary repairs.
According to police and municipal traffic reports, the driver was traveling Luis Donaldo Colosio Boulevard heading north to south when for reasons unknown, he slammed headlong into a concrete wall before spinning and hitting the base of a CFE pole.
