Cancun, Q. R. — A bicyclist was killed Friday in a vehicle hit and run in Cancun. Witnesses reported the accident in SM 96 after seeing the man mowed down by a fast moving van.
The accident happened on Nichupté Avenue and 127th Street Friday evening. Emergency medical personnel responding to the report were unable to do anything for the male victim. He was declared dead on scene.
Witnesses said the man on the bicycle was attempting to cross Nichupte Avenue against traffic when he was hit. The oncoming van’s driver did attempt to brake, but ended up hitting the bicyclist. Witnesses said the driver of the van kept going.
