Cancun, Q.R. — On Wednesday night, an off-duty corrections officer was shot and killed outside her home. The female officer was with the Cancun Municipal Police. She was reported to be a detention officer with Centro de Retención Municipal.
She was shot in a targeted attack in SM 260 around 8:00 p.m. According to early information, the woman was leaving her home on Tulipán Street when she was intercepted by two subjects on a motorcycle.
Neighbors who heard the gun fire called emergency services. Municipal Police and National Guard repsonded to find one of their own laying dead in the street. She has been shot several times.
The area was cordoned off and under guard while evidence was collected and an investigation started.
