Cancun cop fired after showing genitals to pedestrians

Cancun, Q.R. — An active Cancun police officer has been fired and arrested for showing his genitals to two women. The off duty officer was driving a motorcycle when the two young women crossed his path.

A private security camera captured the man stop and wait for the woman to near. As they did, he opened the fly of his shorts to reveal his penis. Both women kept walking and the man drove off.

The incident happened in a residential area in SM 216 of Cancun earlier this week. On Thursday, the man was tracked down and arrested. After his arrest, the Secretaría Municipal de Seguridad Ciudadana y Tránsito of Cancun said in a statement that they “started the process to discharge an element that was identified in a video in alleged sexual harassment against two females in the vicinity of superblock 216 and is collaborating with the corresponding authorities for the legal procedure in light of these events.

“The conduct of the officer contravenes the ethics, values and principles that govern this Citizen Security institution, for which reason it has already initiated the corresponding institutional procedures for the sanctions of the element and, at the same time, the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for Sexual Crimes has been notified to investigate and determine what is appropriate.

“In addition, it threatens the peace, security and well-being of the citizens of Benito Juárez to whom we owe ourselves and for whom we must work loyally, honestly and legally.

“The Corporation also reaffirms its position of not tolerating any type of act that violates the law and harms third parties, and therefore calls on all its members to conduct themselves in strict compliance with current laws to safeguard and strengthen the rule of law.”

On Friday, the State Attorney General (FGE) released an official statement identifying the detainee as Gabriel “N”. He was tracked down and arrested “after carrying out various investigative work,” they reported.

“Once located, agents of the Investigative Police assigned to the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for Combating Crimes Against Women and Sexual Crimes, proceeded to arrest him,” the Fiscalía General del Estado (FGE) said.

Gabriel “N” is being charged with sexual abuse with aggravating circumstance since he was a public servant at the time of the incident.

Cancun Mayor Ana Paty Peralta posted Thurday in a statement: “We categorically condemn the actions disseminated in a video circulating on the Internet, which displays conduct that will in no way go unpunished by a member of the municipal police.

“I reiterate that in this government we will not tolerate acts that violate morality and values, and even less so against the citizenry.

“The officer was immediately removed from his duties, in addition to a complaint filed with the State Prosecutor’s Office so that an immediate investigation can be initiated.”
