Cancun, Q.R. — A construction worker remains in critical condition in Cancun hospital after being shot in the stomach. The 19-year-old worker was shot at close range Wednesday afternoon while on the job site.
According to other worker testimonies, he was shot by another man dressed as a construction worker. Police were requested at the site around 1:00 p.m. after the report of the shooting.
Responding officers found the young man on the floor bleeding from a wound to his abdomen. He was able to tell police that he was shot by another man wearing a construction vest and helmet. The man suddenly pulled out a firearm and shot him in the abdomen.
Cancun police began a search operation for the shooter but have not reported arrests. The wounded man was transferred to Cancun hospital in serious condition. A motive for the shooting is unknown. It is also not known if the victim knew his attacker.
