Cancun, Q.R. — On Sunday night Cancun police were at the scene of an incident that ended several city blocks from where it started. Authorities arrived at the parking area of a convenience store in response to numerous reports of a combi crashing into motorcycles.
The incident began on a stretch of Huayacán Avenue after the driver of the public unit hit a motorcycle. Instead of stopping, the driver is videoed speeding away, dragging the bike which was stuck under the combi’s front bumper.
Masses of sparks flew out the back of the combi as the van drove off with the metal bike under it. Within moments, more than a dozen motorcyclists caught up with the van at which time the driver is videoed swerving left into the group.

Several of the the bikes and their riders were left on the pavement as the van then sped off. Blocks later, the driver of the combi pulled into the parking lot of a convenience store where a mob of angry bikers caught up with him.

Using their helmets, several of the bikers hit the van’s windows, shattering them while the driver took refuge. City police eventually arrived, locating a destroyed public transport van that still had the motorcycle lodged under its front bumper.

Numerous injuries, none fatal, were reported in the Sunday night incident. Municipal police and city Transit officers were at the scene. A tow truck arrived to remove the combi and motorcycle from the parking lot.
