Cancun city bus hits motorcycle killing its driver

Cancun, Q.R. — A Cancun motorcycle driver was killed Monday after being struck by a city bus. Police were called to the intersection of Cobá and Palenque avenues in Cancun Monday in response to the two vehicle accident.

According to initial reports, the motorcycle driver was stopped at a traffic light on Palenque Avenue. When his light turned green, he entered the intersection and was stuck by the bus that is alleged to have run a red light on Cobá Avenue.

The motorcycle was hit by the front passenger side of the bus, knocking its male driver to the pavement and, according to witnesses, running him over. Municipal Traffic officers were at the scene to divert traffic around the fatal 5:00 p.m. accident. The driver of city bus Route 2-15 was arrested.
