Cancun, Q.R. — The driver of a private vehicle was taken to Cancun hospital Tuesday after overturning on José López Portillo Avenue. The car overturned after being cut off by a semi driver attempting to change direction.
Paramedics were called around 8:30 a.m. by motorists who watched as the car slammed into the tire of the industrial unit after being cut off. Witnesses reported seeing the driver of the semi trying to change direction at a retorno from a far right lane.
While crossing over three lanes to catch the left retorno, he cut off the oncoming car. City Transit were called to the accident site near the entrance to the Tres Reyes neighborhood.
According to authorities, the accident occurred when the driver of the tractor trailer attempted to turn left. At least one person from inside the overturned car was taken to hospital. Traffic was affected while city personnel were at the scene and tow trucks removed the involved vehicles.
