Cancun, Q.R. — The driver of a Cancun city bus was killed Sunday when he was thrown through his window and run over. The unidentified driver was thrown through the windshield and under the front tires of his bus during an early morning collision with a cargo truck.
The accident happened around 9:00 a.m. on Centenario Avenue in SM 227 where, according to witness report, the driver of the cargo truck blew through a stop sign causing the bus to crash into him.
The impact from that crash sent the bus driver through the windshield where he was run over by his own unit. At least 10 people from inside the bus were treated for varying injuries.
Cancun firemen and paramedics worked to remove the injured through bus windows. Two ambulances arrived and transferred several of the injured bus passengers to hospital. There is no word on possible charges.
