Cancun authorities investigate four detainees for recent city murder

Cancun, Q.R. — Four men arrested from inside a Cancun taxi are being investigated for a recent city murder. The State Attorney General’s Office reports that in coordination with the Secretariat of Citizen Security (SSC), they captured the four males while they were traveling aboard a taxi on the streets of Cancun.

“The detainees were identified as Juan “N”, Juan Carlos “N”, Brandon Aldair “N” and Leonel “N”, who were intercepted by agents of the Investigative Police, assigned to the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office Drug Division and elements of the SSC when they were circulating on Quinta Las Garzas Avenue in Supermanzana 202,” the FGE reported in a statement.

“The first investigations indicate that these people belong to a criminal group dedicated to extortion, homicide and drug dealing in the municipality of Benito Juárez. At the time of their arrests, among their belongings, illicit substances with characteristics typical of marijuana and drugs known as crystal and cocaine were found.

“These subjects are also being investigated for their probable commission of the crime of qualified homicide to the detriment of a man whose body was found in the Tres Reyes neighborhood in July,” they reported.

The four subjects, along with the confiscated narcotics, were placed at the disposal of the Public Ministry.
