Cancun, Q.R. — A passenger on an ADO bus traveling from Merida to Cancun died Monday evening. The passenger, who has not been identified, asked for medical help as the bus entered the municipality of Cancun.

The driver of the bus pulled over at a highway police filer around 6:00 p.m. at which time police requested an ambulance. Before paramedics arrived, however, the passenger died.
The incident happened at a municipal checkpoint at the entrance to Cancun.
The bus was approximately 30 kilometers from reaching its destination of the central ADO station in the city at the time of the incident.
The 40 passengers on board were transferred to another ADO bus that took them to central Cancun.
Paramedics attending the scene reported health complications as the likely cause of death. An autopsy will confirm the official cause. The passenger has not been identified beyond being an elderly person.
