Cancun, Q.R. — The driver of a bus was taken to hospital Wednesday night after colliding with the back of an industrial vehicle. The piece of heavy machinery was working on a section of the Auto Gas highway of Cancun when the bus driver slammed into it.
Motorists reported the crash to 9-1-1 who responded with an emergency services team. An ambulance treated the 30 year old bus driver identified as Daniel “R” before taking him to hospital.
According to available information, the driver of the bus was heading south when he swerved into the shoulder where he hit the backhoe. The industrial vehicle was moving sand on the side of the highway at the time of the accident. The driver of the backhoe ran from the scene.
Police and Municipal Transit officers arrived to deal with the crash. The bus was destroyed in its front end and was towed to an impound lot. There was no word on the driver of the backhoe.
