Cancun, Q.R. — A Cancun woman was killed Wednesday when she was hit by a bus. The accident happened along Tulum Avenue near city hall. She was hit by the bus mere meters from a marked pedestrian cross walk.
According to witnesses, the driver fled the scene in his bus. Later, Tránsito de Cancún reported locating the responsible bus along Tulum Avenue just before Av. Chichén Itzá where it had been abandoned.
City C5 cameras reportedly captured the bus driver boarding another vehicle from where he left his bus. He was tracked down and arrested in SM 68. Police have since detained 62-year-old Nicolas “N” for the pedestrian hit and run.
