Bus drags motorcycle after leaving driver critical in Colosio Boulevard accident

Cancun, Q.R. — A motorcycle driver was rushed to Cancun hospital in critical condition from a bus crash Monday. Dozens of motorists traveling Colosio Boulevard were forced to stop due to the two vehicle collision.

Cancun Transit were called to the scene around 5:00 p.m. after motorists reported witnessing the bus and bike collide. There are also reports supported by a short 17 second video that shows the driver of the bus attempting to flee.

According to initial reports, the driver of the motorcycle was entering a retorno to change direction when the bike was hit by the bus. The collision threw the driver onto the pavement of a right lane, forcing three lanes of traffic to stop.

The driver of the bus tried to leave the scene but was forced to stop with the bike lodged under the front of his unit. January 12, 2026.

The driver of the bus continued in the opposite direction along the boulevard, however, the motorcycle was lodged under the front of the bus, preventing his getaway. He was eventually forced to stop.

Traffic leaving downtown Cancun heading toward the airport was disrupted while emergency service vehicles attended to the scene.

The driver of the motorcycle was reported to be in critical condition. The driver of the bus was detained by Cancun Transit officers. City cameras will be used to determine who was at fault.
