Cancun, Q.R. — A building believed used as a criminal safehouse has been seized in Cancun. Authorities have connected the use of the building to the recent murder of a city officer.
The building was located in the Jardines de la Costa neighborhood in SM 77 of Cancun Thursday as part of an ongoing investigation into the murder of the officer.
The property is believed to be a safehouse linked to the criminal group responsible for the murder of Cancun narcotics Adalberto Altamirano Olarte, who was gunned down early Sunday morning in a parking lot.
The search and subsequent seizure operation was led by the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for Combating Homicide and supported by the Mexican Army, National Guard, the Navy and Municipal Police.

The operation focused on building 22 located between 55th and 84th Streets. During the operation, authorities secured a black motorcycle and a blue vehicle, both believed involved in the weekend murder.
Six adults and one minor have since been arrested. They were taken into custody Monday on the federal highway south of the city of Playa del Carmen in three taxis.
At the time of their arrests, they were found in possession of five guns, three of which were identified as having been used in the murder.
