Cancun, Q.R. — UPDATED: A British tourist remains in critical condition after falling from a Cancun hotel balcony. The accident happened during the early morning hours of Sunday at a hotel south of Cancun.
Medical personnel were sent to the sprawling 15-floor hotel south of the city where they transferred 34-year-old Paul John M to hospital with serious head trauma after he fell from his balcony to the concrete below.
Police have not confirmed which floor the man was staying on when the fall happened. It was hotel staff who called emergency services after he fell. Paul M was admitted to the Galenia Hospital in Cancun in serious condition.
Earlier this month, a national tourist fell from the balcony of a Cancun Hotel. That accident, which happened at a hotel in the Cancun Hotel Zone, resulted in his death.
UPDATE: A man who has identified himself as Rob E, the victim’s brother, says that while he is in hospital, it was not due to a fall.
According to an email received from Paul M’s brother, “he has suffered injuries following an illness while staying at the resort which has resulted in him being hospitalised.”
No further details were provided.
