Cancun, Q.R. — A Cancun combi nearly full of passengers slammed into the back of a staff public bus Thursday morning. Transit officers, Cancun firemen and paramedics were sent to the accident scene along López Portillo Avenue.
Firemen were requested to help with the removal of a man who was trapped in the front seat of the crushed combi. The jaws of life were used to cut open the unit and free the man who was transferred to hospital.
At least 16 passengers received varying injuries during the early morning two-vehicle mishap. Three were reportedly transferred to hospital in serious condition.
According to preliminary information, the combi experience brake failure which resulted in the 7:30 a.m. crash into the back of the bus.
