Bodies found in suitcases identified as Guatemalans passing through Cancun

Cancun, Q.R. — The bodies found inside suitcases in Cancun over the weekend were of two Guatemalans passing through Cancun. The bodies of 28 year old Brayan “G” and 26 year old Javier “R” were found strangled and stuffed inside two suitcases early Wednesday morning.

The pair had reportedly left Guatemala City on June 23. Their bodies were found inside two abandoned suitcases on a Cancun street around 5:00 a.m. July 24. Both men were passing through the city of Cancun at the time of their murders.

On Wednesday morning, residents on their way to work reported the suspicious suitcases on Chichén Itzá Avenue to Cancun police. Responding officers confirmed the bodies of two men, each found stuffed inside a suitcase.

The two men were reportadly heading to the U.S. to meet up with family members. When they lost contact, authorities were notified. After the discovery of the bodies, the victim’s relatives identifed the men by their distinctive tattoos.

Cancun authorities have not commented on the finding of the bodies or any suspects or possible motive for their murders.
