Cancun, Q.R. — Parts of a human skeleton have been found on a public beach in the Cancun Hotel Zone. The grisly, unusual discovery was made Tuesday by a beachgoer who reported the sighting to hotel staff.
Quintana Roo Police agents and Forensic Medical Service personnel were at the scene in response to the 911 call made of the discovery. Once there, personnel were able to verify that the skeletal remains were that of a human.
The remains, which consisted of a spine, pelvis and femur, were photographed and collected from Playa Gaviota Azul at Kilometer 9 of the Hotel Zone. Authorities continue to investigate how the remains became to land on the beach and to whom they belong.
