Cancun, Q.R. — An alleged member of the Arellano Felix cartel who had an outstanding arrest warrant in Baja California was arrested in Cancun Monday by city police.
Quintana Roo police executed an arrest warrant for José Luis Escudero Escandón, whom the Attorney General’s Office says is alleged responsible for the abduction of a woman in August of 2019. After an investigation, authorities were successful in requesting a warrant for his arrest for his likely involvement in the abduction.
A judge from the Federal Justice Center in Ensenada, Baja California issued the arrest warrant against Escudero Escandón. He was taken into custody in Cancun and sent to the Centro Federal de Readaptación Social in Durango where he will be held until his trial.
