Cancun, Q.R. — A small plane belonging to the Cancun Aviation School collapsed near the airport Friday leaving two on board with injuries.
Alberto Capella, Chief Police of Quintana Roo, stated that the accident occurred Friday afternoon at 2:50 p.m. along the federal highway near Huayacán Avenue on the outskirts of the city of Cancun. He reported that the Cessna 150 fell into jungle brush about 300 meters from the avenue.
Members of the National Guard along with municipal police, airport firemen and paramedics responded to the emergency situation. Two of the three crew from inside the small plane were taken to Cancun hospital with minor injuries.
The plane was carrying two students and a teacher (pilot) at the time of the accident. There was no immediate word on what caused the plane to crash, however, an investigation is under way.
