Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — Solidaridad police paid an unexpected visit to the Lázaro Cárdenas del Río Taxi Drivers Union of Playa del Carmen. Scores of police units were outside the facilities Wednesday night.
Police began pulling up aournd 9:30 p.m. as part of a joint operation between Solidaridad Police, National Guard and ministerial agents of the Attorney General’s Office (FGE).
Police officers cordoned off the perimeter of the PDC taxi union building, preventing access. The current union leader is Luis Herrera Quian, who also serves as Secretary of the Solidaridad City Council.
Local authorities have not reported on the raid. It remains uncertain if any arrests were made or any illegal items found during the building search.
The raid on the Playa del Carmen taxi union happened two weeks after a scandalous raid on the Cancun taxi union building that lead to the eventual arrests of five taxi drivers and union members for recent inside murders.
