Cancun, Q.R. — A man alleged responsible for the death of another in Cancun has been arrested in Tabasco. The arrest was made four days after the beating death of a young Cancun man whose killing is believed to be a hate crime.
On June 5, the body of the unidentified man was found beaten and burned by his father in their home in SM 231. Emergency services responding to the call arrived to find the body, which authorities reported, suffered severe head trauma.
An investigation using city surveillance footage showed a second man leaving the home at the time of the murder. Police were able to track down the man seen on video.
In a press release, Óscar Montes de Oca of the Quintana Roo Attorney General’s Office (FGE) reported the Wednesday afternoon arrest of Isidoro G in Tabasco. The FGE have said that police have since learned that Isidoro G was the victim’s tenant and that the two shared a living space.
After the murder, Isidoro G left the home and fled, but with the support of C5 video surveillance, he was traced heading to Tabasco where he was captured with help from Tabasco authorities. After his arrest, Montes de Oca said Tabasco police learned that Isidoro G has an outstanding arrest warrant for homicide in Guanajuato.
Isidoro G has been returned to the state of Quintana Roo to face charges for the June 5 killing.
