Cancun, Q.R. — Local authorities have confirmed two dead and one injured in a Cancun street shooting last night. One of the three male youths shot is reported to be a 13 year old boy.
Police were called to 64th Street in SM 219 shortly before 10:00 p.m. by neighbors who reported the shooting after hearing numerous blasts of gunfire. Neighbors said the three young men were outside a private home when they were fired upon.
Eye witnesses reported a motorcycle with two men on board fired at least seven times at the boys. One youth was found laying dead in the street. The second was found dead inside the house less than a meter from the front door.

The third person, reported to be 13, was taken to hospital after being shot in his back and leg.
Authorities searched the area for the motorcycle and gunmen but have not announced the arrests of any suspects.
State officials released a statement late Friday night saying they are investigating the shooting, which so far, seems to have stemmed over drug sales.
“The Quintana Roo Attorney General’s Office (FGE Quintana Roo) reports the opening of an investigation into an incident in Superblock 219 where three people were shot.
“Witnesses and investigators indicate the location is a known drug sales point.

“As a result of the shooting, two men died and a third was injured and transported to a local hospital for specialized medical care.
“Forensic experts and members of the Investigative Police processed the scene, collecting various ballistic evidence, which will be incorporated into the corresponding investigations.
“Initial lines of inquiry link the shooting to drug dealing. The Attorney General’s Office is continuing its investigation to clarify the facts and identify the perpetrator(s).”
