Assault gets main suspect in more than two dozen commercial robberies jailed

Cancun, Q.R. — A man found wanted in more than two dozen small business robberies in Cancun was picked up Monday. Daniel “N” was arrested by police after intentionally blocking their way by running in front of the city police unit then assaulting officers.

Officers patrolling SM 241 assumed the man was requesting help, however, they were met with an aggressive attitude of verbal and physical abuse. That abuse lead to the arrest of Daniel “N”. After his arrest, police learned he was the main suspect in more than two dozen robberies around the city.

Acording to the SSC (Secretary of Citizen Security) “this person is apparently related to 22 robberies at Oxxo, six at Willys establishments and one more robbery at Farmacias Guadalajara.”

The SSC (Secretaría de Seguridad Ciudadana) explained Daniel “N” was arrested for allegedly being involved in the crime of Disobedience and Resistance of Private Parties.

“During surveillance tours, elements of the Secretariat of Citizen Security noticed a male who suddenly ran out and stood still in front of the official unit, forcing them to brake suddenly.

“When asked if he was okay, this subject began with an extremely aggressive attitude, approaching the passenger window and with both fists and began hitting the glass. The events occurred on Avenida Isla Aruba in superblock 241.

“On one occasion, the officers got out of the patrol unit to engage in dialogue with the man, however, he began to report a series of assaults, threats and blows for which reason he was arrested.

“At that moment, the man threw himself to the ground on his knees and with his elbows on the ground, crawling in order to prevent being boarded onto the vehicle. In the wake of this incident, he suffered a cut on his right forearm caused by glass that was on the ground. For this reason, he was taken to the General Hospital for medical attention.

“Later, he was taken to the facilities of the State Attorney General’s Office to be placed at the disposal of the police.”
