Cancun, Q.R. — Two males were arrested shortly after a bank customer was robbed of more than 200,000 pesos. On Thursday, Cancun police were able to locate and detain the pair of males after the report of a daytime cash robbery in SM 219.
The report detailed two armed men robbed a Bancomber bank customer outside a Cancun plaza on Kabah Avenue who was carrying 260,000 pesos in cash inside a suitcase. They also took his cell phone. Police began a search operation, locating the pair in SM 225.
The two robbers were found in a green area between Kabah Avenue and 20 de November Avenue. The arresting officers found them in possession of the cash and a loaded weapon. Apparently the pair were divvying up the dough when officers located them.
Both subjects were transferred to the municipal public security secretariat after being identified by the victim. Police were able to locate the pair of daytime thieves so quickly because the phone was outfitted with GPS.
